We ordered another Avenco King Mattress that was similar to this one but without the pillowtop. When it came, the box was damaged. When we took it out of the box, the plastic surrounding it was in tact. We put it on the bed and removed the plastic to discover that the 1/2 of the mattress rolled up inside was really wadded up on one end and about 1/2 way up the length of the mattress. As soon as it began to unfold, it did not have the same appearance on the left and right sides of the mattress. The right side (the one wadded up inside) did not start to puff up the same as the left side did. We waited seven days and the right side never puffed up fully and a row of springs did not fully expand. I called customer service and explained about the mattress. They offered me a replacement or a discount if we kept it. I explained that my husband and I had both had serious back surgeries and that one of us would not be able to sleep on that mattress and be comfortable. In view of the defectiveness of that mattress, we wanted a refund and wanted to order a different mattress. They refunded our purchase price and told us to donate it or dispose of it since UPS could not pick it up. We reordered and purchased this Avenco King Hybrid Mattress with a pillowtop. It came with the box damaged, too; and the mattress still in tact with the plastic still covering it and protecting it. We placed it on our bed and removed the plastic. It totally began to expand immediately. It appeared fully expanded by the end of the day, but we followed the instructions to wait 72 hours before sleeping on it. We had the best night's sleep in many years after waiting the 72 hours. We both were able to be comfortable when we laid down, had a wonderful night's rest, and woke up pain free for the first time since our back surgeries four.and five years ago. This mattress is a great value for the money and has exceeded all our expectations for comfortable sleeping. It is heavy, but two people can easily handle it. We used a furniture cart to move it. It is so wonderful to be able to wake up and get out of bed with no back pain. We had an expensive memory foam mattress and an expensive adjustable air mattress that were a waste of money. We would highly recommend this Avenco King Hybid Mattress for anyone with back problems and anyone who wants a very comfortable mattress. It is not too hard or too soft for my husband or me. The sides do not collapse when you sit on the edge of the bed making it easier to get out of bed. This is one of the best mattresses we have ever owned in 57 years of marriage. We are very happy with this mattress.
