I purchased this to use with a Google Fi data only SIM. I wanted something to use instead of my phone for providing a hotspot. I had a Huawei mobile broadband USB dongle, but it did not work with the Google Fi SIM. I purchased this and it was simple to set up and use.The advantages are that the antennas provide much greater gain than the phone's tiny antenna. That means in a weak cellular area, I can get a usable signal. It is not a 5G device, but 4G is more than adequate for my use. Because it is 4G, the price is also much lower than the newer 5G versions. It also uses only the 2.4G WiFi frequencies, which so far has not been a problem. If I wanted to use it at home, I could use it with the high-speed fiber and then the SIM would make it a failover device. However, I wanted it for use when we are traveling and so I would not have a broadband connection anyway.On a recent trip, where my phone had a marginal signal, the router performed great, providing good connectivity and speeds. On our upcoming travels, I expect it to perform well also. I purchased a 12V adapter cord with the correct connection so I could run it on the trailer's 12V circuit when we are in locations without 120V power. In this configuration, it worked very well also.I recommend this to people who have RV's who want to be able to have usable Internet in areas with weak cellular service. I don't expect it to perform miracles and have Internet in areas with no cell service at all, but in the marginal areas, it should perform much better than the tiny antennas in cell phones or dedicated cellular hotspots without the external antennas.
