We were told to not use the expensive ones as it is hard on the heat pump, so we have these sent on a regular basis.The only drawback is thst it really does not filter dust particles as there is a lot more visible dust on my furniture.This is a bulk package of basic blue furnace filters. The filters I bought measure 14" x 24" by 1" thick. They come in multiple sizes and the photo in the ad (at the time of my purchase) was a square filter, not 14x24. But don't be alarmed by the photo. I received the exact size I ordered. The filters are blue fiber (filament spun glass) in a cardboard frame with a metal reinforcement on one side. This is about the least expensive throw-away filters you can purchase.As far as filtering capabilities, this is a very basic filter. It is meant to be used for up to 30 days and filters household dust, dirt and lint.This filter does not filter out smaller particles such as allergens, pollen, mold spores, etc.I use this filter on a high efficiency gas furnace. I typically use a thicker (better) filter, however I have found my furnace is extremely sensitive in respect to airflow, and on occasion, when it is very cold out with snow, a thicker filter causes false "pressure switch" alerts, which cause the furnace to detect that it is not getting enough air, thus it shuts off. This happens very rarely, but I keep some of these blue filters on hand to use when I run into these situations. I have two furnaces and one is just very sensitive so for me having some of these for an emergency for that furnace is the way to go.PLEASE NOTE: if you are having furnace errors or low airflow symptoms, it pays to have the system checked by a professional. Do not simply use a cheap filter if there is a system issue, and NEVER run the furnace without any filter. This will lead to a damaged system.Over time I have found that I prefer to change out filters every 30 days instead of 90 or more. Just in general, with a large family, a Golden Retriever, and forced hot air heat, I like getting a fresh filter in there often.These filters are good enough to provide the basic protection your furnace needs: trapping dust and dirt, keeping the fan fins clean as well as the coils related to your central air system. You do not want those to collect debris as it reduces effectiveness and airflow.If you want to ensure a higher air quality level, obviously there are filters which are much more effective at removing smaller contaminants.The only difference I noticed versus buying these in, say, Home Depot, is that they came in a large cardboard box, but not in plastic inside, and when I pulled them from the box they had somewhat of a "cardboard" odor. This dissipated within a few hours though. But were they wrapped in plastic inside the box that would have been better.I do prefer these over the other cheap filters I've seen at Home Depot or Lowe's which are the same but have a flimsy cardboard frame. This one, while still cardboard, has more structure to it so it is easier to insert and remove from the furnace. The metal reinforcement also keeps the filter from bending or collapsing from the force of the air.If you are satisfied with using a basic filter, these are the way to go.Great value for the moneyGreat product for high flowI like these 30 day filters. They're lightweight but definitely do the basic filtering of dirt, dust and pet hair. Won't help those with allergies but doesn't claim to .These air conditioner filters are exactly what we were looking for and we are very happy to have found them on Amazon. Since we have many pets and especially birds this type of filter is the only kind that will work for our household. The thicker filters that are made to last for 3 months or are designed for allergies did nothing but harm our air conditioner system to where we needed repairs done.When it became nearly impossible to find just a basic air filter at our local hardware store, we purchased a few made to last for up to 3 months. After several months, the entire unit stopped working and we called a technician to have it fixed. After spending $500.00 we were told that the culprit was the filter we were using. Since we have birds, their dust gets stuck on the filter, and with the thicker padding, it made it nearly impossible for the air flow to function properly. We thought it would be just fine replacing the filter every 3 months. However, this was not the case. In the end, we needed the unit flushed and some of the parts replaced.Our technician told us not to use the thicker filters again and that he has seen many homes have their unit fail like ours, all due to the 3-month filters. Going forward it was recommend that we only use the thinner filters and just change them every 30 days or sooner. I am not an air conditioning expert and may not know all the correct terminology, but this was the jest of what was told to us. Needless, to say we were very unhappy with the damage a filter could cause.Since then, we have only used the E-Z flow filter and have never had a problem again. Instead of replacing the filter every 30 days, we change it every 2 weeks. Our unit runs properly and we always have crisp cold air circulating in our home. Now when our technician comes to our home for our yearly checkup we always get a clean bill of health.For us, we have never had an issue with any of the E-Z Flow filters being delivered bent, or damaged in shipping. They always arrive in great condition. If anything, these are better than what we used to purchase at our local hardware store. Since we are very pleased with how well these air filters perform, we will continue to purchase them. This is an item that I would recommend to anyone that wants to purchase a 30-day replacement filter.All it takes is to change these normal priced filters once a month, so they trap plenty of dust. The shipping was fast. The house heats faster in below zero weather, because the air flows faster with these filters. Those other filters don't let any air into the house, so the furnace must work for a long time in below zero weather. How is making the furnace stay on pushing air all night into a thick filter saving energy? When a thick filter is installed, then why is the air so stale upstairs, when the furnace can't pull any cold air down to the basement where it runs? These normal priced E-Z flow air filters work so much better than any thick furnace filter.I have to switch to lower MERV fiberglass filters in the winter if not my furnace won't have enough airflow. Unfortunately they don't filter anything at all, you could leave them on for months with nothing collected on the filters and the house is usually dustier in the winter. I guess their purpose is to stop debris from entering the furnace not to filter air.In all honesty, you don't need better. Been using this type for many years. You can vacuum them when dirty and re-use. Eventually they wear out but not for a long while and they're CHEAP to buy. You can get the real expensive ones... they last longer but you can't vacuum them, so they really don't last longer. LOL Get these... they work it just fine.I'm glad I found inexpensive furnace filters. These are a bit low-grade but that's what I needed because my furnace struggles with the high-grade variety.I use it in a air filter system in my work shop. works good for my systemWorks well, good value, seems to be a hard size to find at the usual hardware stores.
