I grew up on a small farm and my mother canned everything. Once old enough to leave I drifted away from the farm life. Lately I have realized the importance of being self reliant. So I got this canner.Out of the box it's bright and shiny and very little assembly. The manual is good but I would also check some online sites, such as "National Center for Home Food Preservation" and YouTube has many videos with this canner.If you are new to this canner, do a test run. Fill the canner to the mark with water only and learn to stabilize the pressure using your stoves heat control.I have done a few cannings and have not had one seal fail or a jar rupture. Read the manual and do your research.There are a number of safety measures built in to eliminate over pressure failures. Don't go down to your mom's basement and try to use that fifty year old canner. Just not worth the possible hazards.Overall I am very happy with this canner and definitely recommend.
