This is the correct ZF OEM pan/filter for the ZF6HP28 transmission in U.S. model BMW 335d sedans. It costs notably less than the BMW boxed pan - and is the exact same part. This does not come with the screws or internal seal and sleeves for the valve body. When you change the pan, it is highly recommended that you remove the valve body and at a minimum replace the seal and 3 sleeves - they are almost guaranteed to start leaking by 80,000 miles.BMW states the fluid and pan a a “lifetime” product and not to change them. The only reason the manufacturer would honestly claim that is because they want your transmission to fail so you either have to replace it, or buy a new car. The fluid is also only good for at a maximum of 100,000 miles, but honestly should be changed every 75,000 miles, and less if you have tuned your car, and/or you drive it hard.I personally changed fluid at approximately 60,000 miles after having my car modified and tuned (~600 lb ft at the wheels now) with OEM BMW sourced fluid. I changed fluid again at just under 100,000 miles, changed sleeves, seal, pan and spent the $850 to buy a modified valve body (with all new solenoids), and switched to Redline’s full synthetic D6 fluid (specifically developed for this family of transmissions). The difference was noteworthy. The shifts are much better and more direct now. I also have a transmission tune, and this old transmission shifts better and more quickly than when the car was new.
